The advantage of this type of floodlights over matrix floodlights is the presence of secondary optics, focusing the beam on a given illuminated object. Focusing the beam increases the brightness proportionally to the opening angle. That is, the luminous flux = constant, while if without lenses the luminous flux spreads at an angle of 120 degrees, then its focusing increases the brightness of the beam proportionally to the decrease in the angle. So, to obtain the same brightness of the illuminated area as from a 10-watt matrix floodlight without secondary optics, you can use a 4W floodlight with secondary optics with an opening angle of 45 degrees. In other words, floodlights with secondary optics have a higher efficiency in cases where emphasis is needed on specific lighting elements, such as columns, piers, architectural and decorative elements.
